'The Squid and the Whale': The Screenplay SCREENPLAY
Above, you will find my final storyboard, depicting a scene from The Squid and The Whale: The Screenplay, I developed using photoshop. These shots depict a variety of locations such as a school teachers office, a bathroom and the NY Natural History Museum, which we are transported through flashbacks.
-
I used visual storytelling to amplify the feelings of the protagonist who reflects on his fond childhood memories with his mother
-
I studied the dialogue and directions in the screenplay to establish the characters relationships to each other and their location
-
I listen to the prompts in the script and provide a visual suggestion to enhance the scene
-
A point of focus for my storyboards is to convey tone and meaning through camera angles/ movements and body language
-
I used Adobe Photoshop to quickly draw dynamic, clean illustrations
-
Other techniques I used involved using 2-Point Perspective, line of action and other cinematography guides
-
I developed my skill by studying it via Screenskills and reading textbooks
